Friday, December 25, 2009

by: Homer John Reyes

The LGU Manay used their shooting power and super skills to defeat HUNKS in the basketball tournament during the Araw and Parochial Fiesta of San Ignacio, Manay, Davao Oriental on July 31, 2006 before a large crowd at San Ignacio gymnasium.

The league was made for the people and visitors to enjoy that day in San Ignacio. It was opened by briefing all the cagers to play fairly. Many teams joined the tournament such as LGU Tarragona, LGU Manay but unlike, before new teams joined like HUNK’S, J-R-J, and Quibo team.

All teams played well during the elimination round. They show their skills, confidence, and teamwork to win. Fortunately, the LGU Manay and HUNK were able to play the championship game. LGU Tarragona and J-R-J would play the third place

Last year, the LGU Manay was the winner even they made a technical foul but because of their skills they won. The final match for the championship game was played at 7-10 am. It had a good weather, the sun was shining with brightness. The crowd could be counted up to 1 000 people.

The HUNK focused in offense to run over the score of LGU Manay but their man to man defense was hard to penetrate. They proved that their skills could not be underestimated.

Both teams showed their best and all efforts just to win and represent their teams. Luckily, the LGU Manay was still the champion of this year’s basketball tournament in San Ignacio. It was a very good match between two very good teams.

Intramural Changes Schedule

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

by: Nicy C. Villalobos

The Intramural for this year was not formally opened due to its schedule. The sports were played every 3:00 in the afternoon for the whole week of September starting from September 14-19, 2009.

We didn’t have parade, songs and yells and banner raising just like the Intramurals for the past years so many students complained about its schedule.

According to our MAPEH coordinator, Mrs. Mabel Olea, the change of schedule of this year’s Intramural is for students to not miss their classes. She also added that the teachers and our principal approved and agreed to have it every 3:00 P.M only.

Our time schedules in every subject areas were shortened due to this matter. Many students didn’t enjoy very much the Intramural because of its schedule but still it ended successfully.

The awarding of certificates to the winners was just held at the flag pole after the flag ceremony declaring Seniors as the over-all champion.

MNHS Cheer dancers Rank Third

Sunday, December 20, 2009

by: Nicy Villalobos

The former champion in cheer dance, the Manay National High School was defeated by the Evaristo Moralizon National Vocational High School and Marykoll School of Manay last September 25, 2009 during the Cheer Dance Competition held at Manay Gymnasium.

It was MSM which ranked first, EMNVHS as the second place and unluckily, MNHS as the third place. MNHS had been champion for two years and hopefully, it will become the grand slammer but sad to say, MNHS failed to retain its rank.

The judges for the competition came from Ateneo de Davao University and they had lots of experiences and awards as dancers. Many people had come to Manay just to watch for the cheer dance competition and for the dance number of the three judges.

The first prize for the competition was P20,000.00 so the three participants really tried hard to be on top. The second placer had P15,000.00 and P10,000.00 for the third placer.

The MNHS cheer dancers were all disappointed for the result and for the decision of the judges but still, they were happy because according to them, “we had many moments during our practice and we will never forget our trainer”.

Television, Boon or Bane?

Monday, December 7, 2009

by: Angel Claire Marie Basa

Technologies make our daily lives easy and comfortable. Do you agree that it has also a bad side? One of the products of technology is the television. Is this useful to us especially to the students like me? Well, there were different suggestions and comments that I encountered.

Television plays a big role in the community especially in the lives of the Filipinos. To gather information and news about the country or the whole world is easy through watching television. We can get complete information from this wonderful invention. People will also suddenly forget their problems by the help of dramas and shows. It makes them united especially at night because it is the time of rest. Other students can't study well without television.

For me, being a student, I appreciate this mentioned technology because it is my main source of current events that I'm going to share with my co-students in our school campus. I can easily choose the products that I am going to buy in the market because of the advertisements, but sometimes we abuse in watching TV and we can't blame our parents if they will get angry at us. They are only thinking for our better future.

On the other hand, television might be boon if we use it properly and it will become bane if we use it in a wrong way.

His Coming is Near

End of Days

Tick...Tack!...

Do you hear the clock clicking? Have you noticed the days and years changing? Well, the time has come! God is coming! Aren't you excited or Are you afraid? Or should i say you don't even mind and have no idea about it.

Everyone knows God! But the questions is...Do you believe in Him? Do you believe that God is our Lord who created the man, heaven and earth?

Some say "YES" with no doubt, others say "NO" because for them, "to see is to believe". Friend let me tell you this: your life is in danger. The second advent of Jesus is near, so come and change!

People open your eyes, ears, and mind. Try to recall all the sacrifices of our Lord Jesus Christ just to save us from our sins. He let himself suffer the pain and he died on the cross. He set us free!

Isn't it enough for us to believe?
Isn't it enough for us to keep all his commandments?
Isn't it enough for us to praise and glorify His name?

God has just requested his sons and daughters only a simple thing but still it wasn't done great. Yes! People are imperfect but don't make this as an excuse to consider your mistakes.

As a matter of fact, it's so hard to be a man of this world. Temptations are everywhere and it won't stop until the time ends.

We don't know when it would happen, neither the angels of the heaven, nor the Son but the Father alone. It's maybe today or tomorrow. We don't know!

Let's just make sure of our salvation, start to make a big change now! Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you, love Him as He loves you, obey Him as He obeys his promises, thanks a million and you will be saved.
