Showing Off Won't Do Good

Some people are used to show off and trying to do well in front of others so that those people who observe them will be impressed. This is actually done by some rumored candidates this coming 2010 election to make people believe that they deserve to be voted.
At present, faces of the big men in the political arena are seen on television. They advertise everything they did from simple to complex spending millions of pesos while many Filipinos are hungry. They said it is their own money. Well, there's no question with that. But if they have many riches, didn't they think of using them wisely? Instead of advertising their faces on TV, they may put up some business and provide employment to the people. Isn't it far better than what they are doing right now?
Actually, those TV ads are just tools to impress people and to make them think that certain politician is a good person. And in that way, people would vote them.
But, they can impress more people if they are really helping and that is the time the public would know that they are really kind.
Those advertisements are just a waste of time and money. Instead of spending much to nonsense commercial, why should not use the money to construct houses for the homeless, or give works or business to the unemployed. So, they project the real image of a servant because they have the hearts which are willing to help others and ready to extend their hands to the less privileged.
Bragging won't do any good to human and to politicians in particular. They are just making fun of themselves on the television. If you are good, you don't need to show it off. It can be seen through your deeds.

Math and Physics are two of the major subjects in fourth year high school and almost all of the students find these subjects so difficult. Numbers, figures, and formulas made them confused and bored and sometimes one of the reasons they failed in their final grades.
Are these subjects really hard or easy? Well... I had interviewed students about this and when I ask them, they pondered deeply and answered me: "Difficult!". Some said that these two subjects made them "crazy" because of those confusing numbers and formulas. Others replied in contrast that Math and Physics are just easy because these are very much applicable in their daily lives. For them, formulas and their procedures are easy to memorize than those definitions and meanings in other subjects.
Math and Physics are interesting and challenging subjects. We just have to put an interest and shouldn't think of any negative feeling that those are difficult and hard to understand, instead think positive and learn to love and like them because if you do, you'll surely listen during class discussions attentively, exert more effort and be motivated solving problems and manipulating numbers.
If you hate or dislike the said subjects, you'll surely encounter difficulty on them, because your mind isn't yet ready to absorb lessons for you will feel sleepy during discussions.
Subjects are naturally given to us students, and they should be taken seriously. We must put this in our mind that our grades in every subject are our passport for graduation and for the future.
To batch 2009-2010, I hope that no one would say "I shall return".
Who are accountable of this?

Before we are born in this world, nature has its life and way of living. As time goes by, we learn to adapt it. We then became people of our land, the protector of our mother nature and the preserver of its beauty.
Now look of what was done to her. The beauty and grace of nature was destroyed by human desires. The desire to have a nice living on plains which cause the conversion of agricultural lands to residential lands. The desire to build big buildings and industrial factories which cause the cutting of trees for construction works. After all the processes that nature had underwent can we still call the plains and main lands as the real beauty of nature? Maybe soume would say yes because they have seen the benefits of it to human life but try to ask them; will these benefits last long and forever? Can buildings and factories stop floods or can they give fresh air? No, it isn't because those building and factories are just man made and contribute to the destruction of the nature.
Today, look at the news on televisions and listen to what it is about. The nature had worked against us which cause so much pain and sorrow. Then as we look around, the happenings are still fresh and painful. The nature is thentaking its time to show how it works against us. The only question that is left is: who are to be blamed of this happening?

"Time is like money: the more we have of it to spare, the farther we can go."
Time is the most important thing that we must treasure. We cannot bring it back that is why we must cherish each moment that we have. We mus expand our wings and fly through the open sky. Let's be bold enough to show to everyone what we are capable of doing because time doesn't wait for us but is set for us to do things that we should do.
The clocks are ticking, telling us that time is running, so we must be very wise spending it. We must be responsible, we must set our priorities right and have goals to achieve.
As a student, doing foolishness instead of studying is a waste of time. We as students must put efforts on the things that we should do, make it memorable and worthy of our time. In addition to this, we must be a wise time spender.
Life is so short. We are here so blessed to have much time to cherish life and live for but we just waste it. Every minute counts but we don't mind it. Some of our brothers and sisters who want to live long and spend time wisely have not much time to cherish life like us. We should remember and think to use our time wisely because "a time lost is lost forever."

After the super typhoon Ondoy, Luzon areas were suffering a lot. Their houses were destroyed of the strong wind and heavy rain. But is this a normal effect of a typhoon?
A typhoon will only destroy some properties but it will not make a flood that will reach houses' roofs.
This huge flood that occurred in Luzon is not just because of a natural phenomenon, it is really because of people's abuse to nature. Over population, illegal logging and pollution are some causes of the terrifying incident that happened in Luzon and some areas in Visayas.
Because of huge population, people find it hard to find job so they can't supply their needs like food and shelter. Due to property, illegal logging become their source of income. Some of the rich people like government officials and businessmen also contribute a lot to the destruction of our nature. They headed the cutting of trees but never replace them.
Pollution is one primary cause of the big floods that had occurred in some parts of the Philippines. Because of the garbages specially plastics and cellophanes that were thrown everywhere, the dikes where water flow were trapped with garbage and it cannot flow normally so water level rises and this causes flood.
Government offficials specially the environmentals should monitor our environment and be a model to take care our nature.
People who suffered because of typhoon Ondoy didn't recovered yet.
All of us should now be aware that life is really an echo. It gives back what we have given. So let's take care of our nature so thatit will also care for us. Let us save nature and save lives.
MNHS, annex schools entertain Manayans

This year's high school night was different from the other years because the three main schools will have their own night. Last October 18, 2009, the MNHS together with its annex schools, the Old Macopa High School and Del Pilar High School presented their night as one of the many activities during the 112th Founding Anniversary of Manay.
Teachers and students of the three schools participated and presented song and dance numbers.
The MNHS teachers led the production number of all the participants of the night. The USBONG sang for the doxology and led the singing of the National Anthem. Teachers from OMHS danced ballrooom and another dance number was presented by DPHS.
Many had enjoyed the comical skit presented by the third year students of MNHS. The history of MNHS and its annex schools was also read. There were also interpretative dance, jazz chant, song solo, duet and choral singing.
Lots of people watched for that night. They appreciated and were entertained by the numbers presented and the effort of the schools who tried their best to make their night presentable.
The program ended with the closing remarks of the father of the main school, Mr. Gil T. Lasmarias and he thanked everybody for making the night successful and entertaining.
School fair briefs fourth year students

In order for the fourth year students to have background knowledge of what is the best school and course to take up in college, the very first School Fair in Davao Oriental took place on July 31 to August 1, 2009 at Sangguniang Panlalawigan located at Idahoan, Mati, Davao Oriental.
There were 36 colleges who attended the fair which came from different colleges like ADDU, USEP, UM, HCDC and DOSCST. Some schools prepared presentations, gave flyers and created raffles.
The first ever School Fair was made possible through the initiative of Vice Governor Mayo Z. Almario. It was a great help for graduating students because it gave them the idea where to enroll and what course to take up in college.
Many students participated and they were thankful to the honorable vice governor of Davao Oriental for the opportunity given to them.
Olea implements morning exercise

Mrs. Mabel Olea, the MAPEH coordinator of Manay National High School implemented the daily exercise activity in school for both the students and the teachers. This is done after the flag ceremony. Students and teachers are very eager to execute exercise because they believe this is needed to start the day's activity right.
Besides, Mrs. Olea said, this activity is helpful to the health of the students to be active in the class in order to get high grades. It was also in connection with the Nutrition Month celebration this year.
The said activity started last July 6, 2009 and will continue until the end of the school year.
Holy Cross celebrates Araw ng Barangay

A three-night affair was done in celebration for the Araw ng Holy Cross 2009 on October 13-15 at the barangay gym with the theme: "Panagdait, Panaghiusa, Pagtinabangay ug Paghigugmaay alang sa Kalambuan sa Barangay"(Peace, Unity, Cooperation and Love for the Progress of the Barangay).
The first night of the celebration, the barangay hosted its first Pop Dance Competition open for any group of dancers. There were three groups of dancers who showed different amusing moves and tricks. The dancers were judged according to their costumes, dance steps, music and performance by Mr. Welvin S. Del Monte. After the judgment the Jam United was proclaimed as the first placer with the price amounting P2000, the Hyper Strike as the second placer with P1000 and the Ice Breaker as the third placer with P700. The dancers amazed the audience as they performed a showdown.
The second night was the Sectoral Night. Different sectors of the barangay participated to the event and showed variety of talents and presentation to the crowd.
The third night was the highlight of the celebration -- the Search for Miss Holy Cross 2009. There were eight candidates who contested for the search. The candidates who ramped at the stage were judged according to how they carried their attires.
They also showed different talents and the top three candidates were chosen to answer the questions of the host for the question and answer portion.
Then, the awarding of trophies to the ranked candidates. Angel Claire Marie Basa, a student of Manay National High School, representing the GKK Sector grabs almost of the awards and was crowned as the Miss Holy Cross 2009. She was also proclaimed as the Ambassadress of Goodwill by Hon. Mayor Antero Dayanghirang Jr.
Miss Charlene Simbanagan, representing the Womens Sector was declared as the first runner up and Miss Joy Fee Ponte Vedra, representing the Barangay Council was declared as the second runner up.
The consecutive affair was successfully done through the initiative of the different sectors of the barangay. That was a job well done.
MNHS candidate clutches Ms. San Ignacio crown

Angel Claire Marie Basa, the bet of Manay National High School clutches the crown of Ms. San Ignacio as she defeated her opponents on July 30, 2009 in the Search for Miss San Ignacio 2009.
She bested the other four contestants who were Dheevy Von Laguidong who represented the San Ignacio Public Market, Sheena Rabadon for the RIC, Florine Matoza for the SITODA and Queenie Ivy Delima for the DENR.
Basa garnered almost all the awards. She got the Best in Ethnic Attire, Best in Casual Wear, Best in Talent and Smart Talker.
The candidates showed well their talents during the talent portion and ramped well wearing their beautiful dresses. Dheevy Von Laguidong got the Best in Gown and became the First Runner-up followed by Queenie Ivy Delima.
Many people attended and watched for that event and cheered for their favorite candidate. The teachers and students of MNHS showed their full support for Basa and cheered so loud whenever she ramped on the stage. It is the pride of Manay National High School to have a Miss San Ignacio student who represented her Alma Mater for the pageant.
The candidates for Ms. San Ignacio 2009 really showed their beauty and brains for that contest and had to put up a challenging and fair contest.
Division Science, Math quiz challenge students' intellect

The Division Science and Math quiz was a two-day activity that challenged the students' skills and intelligence. This affair was held at Matiao Central Elementary School and Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology with the theme "Adapting to Diverse Science Culture for Development".
There were 30-35 schools participated in the said event. Every school brought its won best participant. Others spent big amount of money just to attend this contest, and of course our school, the Manay National High School would not miss the event.
On the first day, the students gathered at Matiao Central Elementary School for the competition of Sci-Damath, On-the-spot Painting, Collage Making, and Science Investigatory Project(SIP) for elementary and secondary. Mrs. Juvy Montenegro, the MNHS' coach was designated by the Division personnel as one of the judges for the SIP.
On the next day, the Quiz Bee was contested at Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology. This was a great day because all the participants showed their very best and exerted much efforts.
In the end, the victors were proclaimed. Luckily, participants from our school had their share of the winnings. Jim Apollo Tana got 5th place for Integrated Science, Homer John Reyes for Chemistry, Warren Grace Cosare for Biology, and Nicy Villalobos for Physics as 3rd and 2nd respectively. In Mathematics, Candy Feb Diabakid got the fourth place.
Buwan ng Wika '09 promotes unity

"Wikang Filipino, mula Baler hanggang buong Pilipinas". This was the national theme of "Buwan ng Wika" this year which emphasized the unity of nation with the use of the Filipino language. The Manay NHS united at the hall, celebrating it by holding different contest regarding the season on August 28, 2009.
At the stage of the hall, Mrs. Flordeliz Quiamco facilitated the "Tagisan ng Talino". Dazzle Jane Mas, a sophomore student, win as champion. As usual, Liezel Linogan and Harlem Jay Mangopot won as first place in Love Duet. In the field of poem, Aljun Dagcutan wearing the formal barong tagalog costume, got the first place. Nicy Villalobos, a senior student explained the topic properly in "Talumpating Walang Paghahanda".
The continuation and awarding ceremony was done in the afternoon. Francis M. was imitated by Karen Jay Olea (fourth year) and won as the first place. Acting the lines of Anne Curtis (Felisa) and Phililip Salvador in Baler, Eulogio Manluyang Jr. and Kristine Cabanos were the best performers.
The second year level won as first place in interpretative dance (Dakilang Lahi) trained by Boying Calibo.
