Students Join YFC Camp

Sunday, June 23, 2013

Catholic students of Manay National High School joined the Youth for Christ Camp on June 21-23, 2013 at the school campus of MNHS. There were 89 students who participated in the said camp to develop their spiritual life and know more about Jesus together with the other youth in different places.

The training started with the teaching of songs to the new participants while the service team was having a camp training. They prepared everything in the evening of Friday so that they would not encounter problems during the conduct of the actual camp.

In the morning of Saturday, the activity began early. There was a registration of the participants. The camp started with a prayer, and then followed the different talks on varied topics given by the speakers from Caraga and Mati, Davao Oriental headed by Mr. Jun Bagares, the YFC Cluster Coordinator and Mr. Sol Noel, RN, the full-time YFC Mission Volunteer of Davao Oriental.

Many activities were done. Later, there were sharing and testimonies of the participants’ life experiences, games, confessions, gatherings, bonfire and merriment. The participants were excited everyday because they knew that there would be a new experiences and learning.

However, YFC Camp was not only about these, the main purpose of this camp was to induce youth to be with God and to serve Him with all their hearts and souls for them to follow the right path wherever they may go.

The parents of the participants witnessed the dedication on the last day of the camp. They were surprised of their children’s reactions. The PTA president, Josephine T. Tuco said that if all students of Manay NHS attended the camp, there would be no more problem about students’ attitude in school. She stressed further that those who have attended the camp would serve as light to the rest of the students in school.

Now, the Youth for Christ are busy with their works as evangelizers. They attended many activities such as Provincial Youth Conference in Mati in August, Regional Youth Conference in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley and a lot more to strengthen their spiritual values as their shields against evil in their mission to spread the word of God.
