Only God knows

Thirst, starvation, illnesses and death agitate the people in almost all parts of the world. These arise because of the calamities it faced: man-made or natural calamities. Earthquakes, typhoons, hurricanes, wars and other forms of disasters are now experienced by people.

As shown on television, people are helpless. They strive for food and water. They suffer from varied illnesses. They are traumatized in witnessing love ones died beside them. Some lose hope to continue living. These disasters raze them. It killed many lives, damaged properties, and affected livelihood. Because of this, many are wondering; is the end near?

If you try to reflect on it, you could say that the end is near. It was prophesized that the day of the end is coming when everything is in chaos. And what is happening now is a sign that the world will come to an end. People rip one another. People all over the world suffer different kinds of disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons, tsunami, and hurricanes. These days, it is believed that the world is being cleansed from all the evils.

With the remarkable horrifying scene happened on Haiti on 2012. They were hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7, having vertical quaking direction which made it more destructive. The next was in Japan, which was struck by enormous tidal waves that caused tsunami. It almost deleted the place in the map. And the latest was in Bohol provinces with 7.2 magnitude earthquake damaging ancient sites and properties, and killed thousands of lives, added with the successive visit of the equally destructive typhoons such as Ondoy, Sendong, Pablo and Yolanda which worsen the damage of the once beautiful earth that we live in.

This troubles many. They thought that the end is coming very soon. Text messages are now being passed saying that the end will come and no one can do something to stop it. The rumors about the day of the end are spreading like virus. People get confused.

However, if one reads the Word of God, he must not worry at all. God said in the book of Luke that all these happen before His coming but these do not destroy even a single hair on our head if we have a strong faith in Him. And this does not mean the final end is near. No one knows when the exact date is. So let us not be deceived by the false prophet. Let us do what is right and pleasing to the sight of our Heavenly Father. Let us trust His promises to protect and save us from harm.
