  • Administrators and staff, as stewards of the institution, ensure an enabling and supportive environment for effective learning to happen
  • Family, community, and other stakeholders are actively engaged and share responsibility for developing life-long learners

Mandate

The Department of Education was established through the Education Decree of 1863 as the Superior Commission of Primary Instruction under a Chairman. The Education agency underwent many reorganization efforts in the 20th century in order to better define its purpose vis a vis the changing administrations and charters. The Department of Education (DepEd) formulates, implements, and coordinates policies, plans, programs and projects in the areas of formal and non-formal basic education. It supervises all elementary and secondary education institutions, including alternative learning systems, both public and private; and provides for the establishment and maintenance of a complete, adequate, and integrated system of basic education relevant to the goals of national development.

Put an end to suffering

Thursday, March 27, 2014

You may have noticed that suffering and problems does not discriminate. Natural disaster, illness, violent, crimes, and other tragedies can affect anyone, anytime, anywhere. Humanitarian organizations have worked tirelessly to prevent and abolish or at least relieve human suffering. But what have their efforts achieved?

Take for example- the battle against hunger. According to some newspapers, disaster have left many homeless and without food. However, the paper reports that the efforts of agencies that work to alienate hunger are hampered by mounting violence. Political, social and medical leaders have all tried their best to alienate suffering, but the results have been disappointing. Programs and projects to stimulate economic growth have not eliminated poverty. Vaccines, drugs, and advanced surgical techniques cannot end all sickness. Police officers and peacekeeping or even escalate.

Wake up!

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

Can you remember of yesterday’s Filipino situation? According to everyone’s experiences, especially in Marcos’ Administration, people were not suffering. You know, people could buy a candy with 25 cents. All kinds of goods, especially rice, noodles, etc. were in lower prizes.

But now, cents has been devalued. This time, what all can say is that crisis in the Philippines rises. Everything goes high. This is a big trouble in family who has fewer earnings. They can only buy a little amount of what they need. Like for example, rice instead of 1 kilo of it, they can only buy a half of it. So a family can’t have enough food because they have to make both ends meet especially when the family is big.

But not only in that situation can we say that crisis is present. There are more situations to be cited. Not in citizen(s) is the conflict. It is in the administration that governs the country. In the present administration, you can notice that more people are starved. In that situation, you can’t help but think that the administration is corrupting the people’s money.

Are they not contented? Can’t they see what’s happening around? If you only know, our president is negotiating to more, big and rich countries, in terms of financial help for our country, and indeed he succeeds. The question is where does the money go? What about the taxes paid by the people? Let’s wake up!

Teenage Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a special and critical stage of a woman. Some says that giving birth is not easy because she is fighting between life and death. To bear a child is a wonderful thing that a woman wants to have. But bear in mind that giving birth is not easy especially if you’re a teenager.

World Population Day is celebrated every year. This is a gathering of all the important persons who are studying about the population of a country. This year’s problem was all about teen pregnancy. It is not new to us but the increase of teenage pregnancy is a hindrance to success of our nation. Our country now is still weary in poverty because of over population.

According to the UP Population Institution, the highest rate of pregnancy is in Southeast Asia. In the Philippines, according to NSO, teen pregnancies in 2000 are around 324 and it augmented in 2010 which are around 755 individuals.

The factors that cause teenage pregnancy are: The influence of the internet or the addiction of the teenagers of chatting, facebook, twitter, instagram, and etc., the use of drugs, having boyfriends, making wrong decisions and etc.

We can avoid this by doing right in our lives. Avoid being haste, think first before we act. We don’t have to be in a hurry because we are still young to bear a child and we have lots of challenges to pass by. And stand in the saying of Dr. Jose Rizal that, “Youth is the hope of our nation.”

Parasite

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

We meet this organism in almost every corner of our house, canteen, office, but most especially in our classrooms. What do you think is it? The PARASITE…

According to the dictionary, a parasite is an organism that lives on and feeds off another without rendering any service in return or something that resembles a biological parasite in dependence on something else for existence or support without making a useful or adequate return.
In our institution, parasites are very present. We can find them by looking in any of the directions. Not the kind of parasites that were introduced to us in our biology class rather, I am referring to those people who love to take advantage on others in order to support their needs.

A very common situation of parasitism happens inside our dear classrooms, where we all spend time in learning. When a teacher is having a quiz and asks his students to get a whole sheet of paper, the class would readily be in chaos, students are moving from one chair to another to find a sheet of paper. Pity to the one who affords to buy an expensive pad of paper.

Another is when your classmates would ask you an amount of your face powder for them to prep themselves. And the annoying part is that when they notice that you have a not-known brand (china-china) face powder they would readily tell you that “KAY____ NALANG KO MANGAYO”. A situation that a person would keep borrowing money from you and not even paying back, would duplicate your assignments, would copy on you during quizzes and even in every exams but is selfish enough to let his to be copied. In various cases, you find someone who always shares with your food but keeps his to himself. What is sad is that if we keep seeing the same faces doing these things over and over again, like there’s no ending.

Can’t they afford to buy their own?, to provide for their own? It’s okay to depend on people but please not most of the times. We must learn to stand in our own feet. We are students; we have a long way to go. We cannot have these people stay behind our backs forever to provide our needs for us. We should realize that how is it to be supplying other people’s needs. How is it feels to be on other’s shoes? Doing these things would lead us to become a parasite, doing it will evolve into a habit. If we feel we are shortly becoming a parasite then change before it’s too late. We should bring this in common sense that life is composed of a give-and-take relationship.

Maturity Appears

Monday, March 24, 2014

Birth. Childhood. The experiences before getting older. The root of the beginning is done when childhood begin. Childhood is a state or period of being a child. It is an experience that we’ll never forget when old age comes. It brings us happiness when we recall our happenings of being young. But try to imagine yourself looking at the mirror, getting older.

Getting older! I know we can’t envisage ourselves having a face like an old one. But getting older doesn’t mean that we’re having an old face. It only brings us the quality of being mature, full of development of our minds like maturity in the way we act, think, move or talk. It’s natural for us to reach the stage of being mature.

Having boyfriend/girlfriend starts at this era. But, have you ever wondered why our parents told us to elude this situation? It’s maybe because we’re too young for that. We’re too immature to have that kind of relationship. Have you ever thought why they told us that we’re too mature to play dollhouses, Barbie, water guns etc., and too immature of having girlfriend/boyfriend? Guys, there’s only one reason why. And it’s because we are in the middle of the stages in life. We’re teenage one! But how do we give importance to ourselves being a teenager? It’s simple; all we have to do is do what we have to do. We have to make our family proud of us and we need to focus on our studies instead of having a relationship with others.

I know you knew what the changes in yourself are, but I know you can understand why we have to change. Always remember, changes embark when maturity appears.

Imperfect Perfectionist

Sunday, March 23, 2014

Each and every one of us has his own disabilities. You may be good at one thing, but you’re not perfect. As the saying goes, “Nobody’s perfect”. But, people of today’s generation are so-called “Imperfect Perfectionist” because they correct and insult someone’s mistakes not knowing that they too, do the same.

I, myself, can say that I’m an imperfect perfectionist, because I’m insulting other’s mistakes. On the other hand I also do the same thing. For example, a student said, “istudints”. I then react and insult him or her. After a while, I announce something and pronounced leader as “leder”, and then I would be insulted. Arguments are to happen after that result petty quarrels.

These imperfect perfectionists are just seeking fuss and attentions. They want to be the talk of the class, or even the school. Then, they will consider themselves as popular or famous. But as a matter of fact, they’re not. They are the center of gossips and criticisms. Are they not ashamed? Or should I say, am I not ashamed?

Imperfections are not made to be insulted, but to know our own weaknesses and disabilities. Upon knowing it, we must do something to overcome this so that we will develop self confidence to push through our goals in life.

What we need is the act of discipline. Learn to control ourselves or else, put it in a right place. We need not to be showy; we will be discovered if we have good and positive attitudes. Insulting someone’s mistake will not do anything good to all of us.

“Correction is needed but not to be insulted”. This saying leaves a message that we must not insult other’s disabilities. But, we must encourage them to overcome their disabilities and do a lot of practice until perfection is met.

Humble Yourself

Philippines is said to be one of the most humble countries in the world. It’s because of its history. As the world revolves, changes happen. We’re not that kind of humble as these days than before. Nowadays, we’re more conceited than being humble.

What for you does the world “humble” mean? For me, it is simplicity and temper. As I look at it in the dictionary, it defines humble as “being modest, not being overly proud, expressed in the way that does not show too much pride.”

Are you modest? If you are, then you are humble. But don’t say you’re humble; it’s leading you to pride to say that. Let others appreciate you of such being modest. But being humble is a very hard role. What if others will tease you, insult you in front of many people, or even accuse you? What if others will spank or punch you without any reason of doing that? Maybe we can’t hold our temper and we can do back what they’re doing to us. No need to hurt the one who hurts you. Be humble and love instead. Just cry until you laugh and forgive until you forget.

So, know who you are. Know what your rank is. Don’t feel so special if you’re not because you will just get embarrassed. You better know yourself more and deeper. You should talk humbly, walk humbly, and do humbly. Lessen your pride and lengthen your temper. Just be simple and you should humble you self. “For whosoever exalt himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted." - (Luke 14:11)

Election in the Philippines

Saturday, March 22, 2014

Every election time in our country, the honesty of the Filipinos is in catastrophe. Every politician claims to be pure and worthy of the peoples’ trust. They point one another as corrupt to win the sympathy of the voters. When the election is over, there is always a cheating protest of the candidates who think they won and cheated.

On May 13, 2013 and on Oct 28 of the same year were the local and national and the barangay elections. Candidates were too busy for the campaign. They tried hard to win in the position they aim at. Because of trying hard, they disobeyed the rules even a very simple rule which was NO VOTE BUYING was not followed.

And not only here in Davao Oriental, but many places in the Philippines. Many of us allowed dishonesty even to ourselves. We accepted money from the candidates and vote for them even our conscience is against it. Many took advantage in having extra income during election without thinking of the consequences of their actions.

Because of crisis, it doesn’t matter for them to know if the candidate they had voted for was responsible to handle the position. They were happy accepting grocery items in exchange of their sacred vote which is supposed to be given to the one who is really service oriented who thinks nothing but the good of everyone. They don’t realize that it’s just for a day for a moment of their happiness. They didn’t also analyze that if that candidate won, they would suffer for a long time because of greed and selfishness.

Filipinos don’t learn from the lessons in the past. Whenever there is election, the same thing is done over and over again. Vote buying, destroying ones reputation, dishonor another. What else is new? If all these are absent in our country’s election, you may ask, is this Philippines?

The echo of bullying

Bullies as we know are those people who kept hatred depth in their heart. People who think vengeance as the solution of every altercation. Bullies that we’ve known for their bad, rude and heartless attitude. That they don’t give care about some peoples feeling. That they don’t give heed if they have hurt somebody’s emotion.

But do we know that bullies are also bullied? Of course we don’t, for we only pay attention to those people who we think they bullied. We don’t even investigate deeper. Not knowing that, every action has a corresponding reason.

Maybe the person has his/ her reason or problem. Family problem that he has something bad experience in his/her past, he/she is physically criticize, or psychologically abused. Just like what spongebob said “How will you know if someone loves you, if you don’t tell them that you love them too.” How will you know what the person have been through if you don’t share the same dilemma? How will you know if you don’t experience how it is to be bullied, right?

Bullies have their own reason. Maybe they are just seeking attention for they have been rejected. We should not be shallow thinker; we should dive deep down and seek information, for us to know what have been broken. Or maybe they were bullied and seek revenge for themselves. We should not just stand on the other side. Just like a seesaw; without your playmate you can’t play with it. Well, all I want to say is, we should be fair! We should hear both sides. For sometimes the one who bullies is more broken, the one who bullies needs more attention. Sometimes the one who bullies is exactly the one who is bullied. Bullies are not bullies if they didn’t experience how it is to be violated. For sometimes bullies are the one who’s standing on the right side and holding the sensible reason.

Be Proud!

Friday, March 21, 2014

Have you ever dream to be an American, Indian, Korean and etc.? Are you not contented or satisfied being a Filipino? Or are you proud as a Filipino? Don’t you know that we should be proud of ourselves, proud that we are one of the Filipino people? For me, being a Filipino is the 3rd precious gift that God has given to me because there are so many things that we should be proud of like our cultures, traditions, attitude and tourist spots.

There are many tourist spots in our country which are visited by people from foreign land wherein many of us have not gone to these places We are blessed that our country is the most beautiful country in the East and we are the richest in terms of natural resources. Aside from the beauty of our place that attracts the tourists it is also noted for our charm which we must be proud of.

But there are still some people who did not honor our country especially in speaking. they don’t use our own language when they talk. We are proud to speak English even with incorrect grammar. We should patronize our own for the improvement of our country.

Avoiding Someone

Do you still remember the 3L’s? Those are live, laugh and love, right? But the most important among them, is love.

If you never found love, you’ll never fully laugh and never completely understand the meaning of living. So I’m asking you again. Did you apply love in your daily lives? If yes, why do we avoid someone? Why can’t we just try to be friend with them and share our love to them?

We start avoiding someone when they hurt us, like us, or even when we did something awkward. As what I have observed most of the teenagers always eschew someone, discriminate or avoid someone who hasn’t pass their standards. We can’t help eluding someone especially when we dislike them. But I’m telling you, don’t treat them like an enemy, unless, they hurt you.

Is it right to dodge someone? We always say, shunning people is right when you have the privilege to escape them, like when they hurt you or when they have the personality that you’ve eluding it since you were young. But dodging them for no reason is bad. Many of us are ducking people just because we don’t like them. But please, don’t shirk them just for a reason that you’re different from them, that you’re mean and you’re not appreciable while they’re not. If you feel something bad for yourself, then make a change and try to communicate them as much as possible.

Try to put these words in your mind. What if your friends are eschewing you just because you have something dissimilar from them? Will you make a change? Will you stop evading someone because the events are connecting from what happen to your friends? If I have the opportunity to answer those sensitive questions, I will answer it from the bottom of my heart. I will change my attitude and I will turn it into good. I will apply more effort for them to trust ne again. I will not elude someone and I’m going to tell them that they won’t do things that can hurt someone again, so no one will avoid them. And not just because the events are connecting from what happen to my friends, but, because of these, I’ve learn a lot.

History’s tale of efforts

Thursday, March 20, 2014

History is filled with dictators who ruled with an iron fist, bringing untold suffering to their subjects. Of course, that is not true of all rulers. Some may have the best intentions for their fellowmen. However, once they are in power, they often find that their efforts are frustrated by infighting and power struggles. Or they may abuse their power for personal gain. “History is a tale of efforts that failed, of aspirations that weren’t realized”, said Henry Kissinger.

We are humans; imperfect humans lack the ability, the necessary wisdom and foresight to manage all their own affairs successfully. If people cannot direct their own steps, how can they direct other’s steps? Human rulers do not have the ability to eliminate problems. In fact, more often than not, bad government or ruling is the cause of a nation’s problem.

Air Pollution

On our way to school, we often run into some black smokes coming from different kinds of vehicles. We sometimes see smog (smoke and fog). All around us we have an unhealthy environment especially in the city. This has a harmful effect on us and other living things like plants. We get sick. Plants die.

But we are not alone in this problem. Other countries are affected too. Smog belts in other countries like United States and many others. Poisonous gases released from chemical plants have been carried. Smog spreads out. Gases, dust, and other pollutants are carried by the wind.

All over the world the situation is serious. But it’s not yet hopeless. Man will find a way. Man will survive. Here in our country, the National Pollution Control Commission and the Department of Health spread information on pollution control to the public. They also organized working groups to study and find ways to control pollution.

Undying Love

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

You came into my life in just a blink,
And let me fall without trying to think,
Days passed and a hint came that we’re on,
Enjoying things as if these are our own.

By your words and done action,
I had put everything in position,
Together in a shore we made promise,
This can’t be broken even if problem arises.

But destiny is simply playful,
Just in a rush we made ourselves fool,
We used to believe we’re compatible,
But we still find things in trouble.

Through my foolish jealousy I let you go,
Nothing came out from your mouth but the word “NO”,
Every night I feel like I got cheated,
By your selfish love and pride that can’t be defeated.

I’d tried to fixed everything,
But you told me I am nothing,
I had been lowering my pride,
Just to get you again in my side.

Now you’re always free and can fly anywhere,
In the midst of the sky like a dove somewhere,
But always remember I am here in love,
And ready to be martyr to give my Undying Love.

Twelve

Twelve is the perfect number for me
It’s because it’s my birth date
It’s because there are twelve months in a year
But most of all it’s my special day

Twelve is where everything feels right
The skies shine so bright
When you and I were together,
Together to cross the ladder

Twelve is my day
Twelve before we met
Twelve when I loved you
Still twelve now that I’m not with you.

This Is Me!

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

For me, I am extraordinary
I am blessed by God everyday
Gives me a family that is very supportive
Only a true love I am able them to give

Talents, Skills are with me
I can sing, dance and perform well
I can’t just throw them away
God give me all of these

I shall use these in good ways
I have friends that I can run with
That I can lean on and give me advice
I shall never betray them
So that our friendship will last longer

I am very mysterious
You can’t find me enough
Because I can be so ridiculous
But I can be as kind as you
If I like you so

You can never blame me for who I am
Because I have a lot of problems that’s hard to overcome
And I really trust in God, He is with me
He has plan for us, I can really see

I have a lot to say so
But, I can’t state them all
Just be with me if you want
And I can be with you as I want

That’s Love !!!

Monday, March 17, 2014

Love is a feeling of tender affection
It makes you feel in the state of affliction
Love makes you feel bad
Lovers make you glad

Love makes you smile
It tells you to forget things for a while
But I know you don’t matter
Because love makes you flatter

Ridiculously, to be in love can be one
One of the things you’ve never done
Love really makes you ugly
It feels like you’ve been dreamy

Love, as others could say
Is just a waste of time and day
It totally breaks your heart
It’s painful like you’ve been pinned by a dart

Love must be cherished and be cared of
You’ll not know when you’ll lost it and thereof
It lets you learn a lesson
A lesson with an even reason

No matter what, love is very bright
To people who are uptight
Let it be, because that’s love
Love, love, love………… Love!!!

My Laughter

Every second, minute and hour
Whenever I’m with you
I can’t stop smiling and laughing
Because of your funny jokes and everything

I don’t know why
Every time you gaze at me
I feel pretty cool
And a little bit of shy

Others think we’re crazy
Because of laughing without any reason
Every time you say, “Hai, Chai!”
It giggles me from the inside

I’m grateful to have you
Because of your inevitable love
I’m afraid to lose you
It’s because you’re my laughter.

My Gurl

Sunday, March 16, 2014

Hi! gurl, that’s what she always says,
Whenever she and I congress
With her sweet gentle smile
The world stops for a while.

I like your rosy red lips
And of course your wavy hips
I like your pretty big eyes
Like the stars that spark at night.

My gurl our bond is immeasurable
Because of our LOL pleasure
Others looked at us strangely
But still we laugh like crazy.

They say you’re nothing
But I say you are my everything
They say you’re naughty
But I say you’re kind and pretty.
