Manay National High School culminated the Math and Science Month on September 27, 2013 and launched activities in accordance with this year’s theme, “Natuready: Unravel the Causes, Build the Solution, Empower Science Clubbers to Action”.
Activities were held at Manay NHS. In the morning, it was a double-event, the Culminating Program and the launching of Adopt-a-Child Program. There was also an election for the new officers of Math and Science teachers and officers and the elected president was Jon Paul Cloma, a 3rd year student. The newly elected officers were inducted by the respective school head of Manay NHS, Mrs. Gema C. Francisquete.
In the afternoon, there were contests and activities like Cash in a Trash, Poster and Slogan Making Contest, Math and Science Quiz Bee and Math and Science Olympics
.
Cash in a Trash is somewhat a fund raising of the Math club with Mr. Erwin Lad as coordinator. This was highlighted as a contest in the subject month culmination by section and whoever has the highest point system will be the winner. So, all students cooperated by bringing tin cans, bottles, plastics, copper, iron and etc.
The 3rd year Hematite, under the advisory of Ms. Anna Fe Rulona, grasped the title for being the winner of Cash in Trash that surely added to the funds of the Math club.
In Poster and Slogan Making contest, all sections in every year level must have two participants to compete for the contest. All the posters and slogans were very amazing but only one that was really the best, the 3rd year Iolite.
Math and Science Quiz Bee was done by section in every year level. The Quiz Bee was conducted by the Math and Science teachers with the assistance also of the officers. And for the Math and Science Olympics, the participants were randomly chosen from Gr.VII to 4th year and were divided into 4 groups consisting 10 members each. The team that finishes all the stations first will be the winner.

It was such an unforgettable celebration in Manay NHS for many were satisfied. A lot of students had fun and they learned so much from the activities. That’s why; they were hoping that a celebration like this would be experienced again.
