by: Jelenne Kaye Cloma

The drug symposium, disaster preparedness and fire prevention seminar held on July 16-17, 2009 at the Manay National High School campus ground brought more ideas to the students about different drugs, their effects to the users and what to do when disaster occurs.

The school invited speakers from the fire department, the PNP, Municipal Health office and the Disaster Coordinating Council to discuss topics that will help the students and teachers gain more ideas on how to handle the situation

One of the speakers was Juddgit Daculan. He told the students the indication if a person uses drugs. He also told the students to avoid using this kind of drugs because it will just ruin their studies. According to him, they will not hesitate to punish the users.

Fireman Santos demonstrated the application of first aid to the victims of the calamities. After that there was an earthquake and a fire drill for every one to be ready in case something like these would happen. Then an open-forum was done to clarify the confusions of the students.

The said activity was participated by the students and teachers who enthusiastically involved themselves in all the drills.
