BB’s found family
Tuesday, November 12, 2013
Moaning and weeping were heard in the grassy field where the mother of the newly borne cow was tied. It was on Nov. 14, 2012 at 10 in the morning after a heavy rain fell that the mother cow met an accident and died which made the baby cow grieve.
BB, as the calf fondly called was then a week old. He felt helpless especially that he was fed through the breast milk of his mother. One day had passed without food. He looked very hungry. At his age, to be hungry is somewhat unbearable.
It was fortunate for him that he was owned by a certain family who is an animal lover who could not afford to see him die of starvation. This family spent time to take care of this orphan creature not only by feeding BB with commercial milk through the bottle three times a day but also dressing and treating his umbilical cord which was infected then.
BB was made feel safe and comfortable. From then he learned to forget his very own mother. He began to embrace his new family who provided all his needs and made him feel that he is loved and cared for. Whenever he was hungry, he came home and asked for his milk. He became close to everybody in the house.
Now that he is one year old, he stopped his milk. He enjoys his food- the healthy, green grasses in the field and he seldom comes home. He stays out in the fields most of the time for him to get adjusted to a place where he is supposed to be. Little by little, he learned to adopt the way of cow’s life as he is. Time healed him. He has forgotten his past.
