Saturday, September 17, 2011
The Department of Education in partnership with the Department of Health commence vaccination for women aged fourteen and above. Manay National High School was one of the schools which availed the program.
Nimfa Ampilanon, a midwife and the attending officer of the San Ignacio Health Center together with Mrs. Merlinda Sanadayan, a volunteer worker headed the vaccination on September 28, 2010 at the MNHS corridor.
The vaccine was an Anti-Tetanus Toxoid that immunes the body against any tetanus infection that may infect the body. Women aged fourteen and above were chosen to be vaccinated with the Anti-Tetanus Toxoid because women are more prone to tetanus for they are the ones who bear child.
Many students and teachers submitted themselves for vaccination although there were few hesitated because they were afraid of the pains caused by the needles.
