MNHS obtains Lawaan seedlings
Saturday, September 17, 2011
Manay National High School received sixty-nine Lawaan seedlings on September 9, 2010 at the MNHS campus. It was given by the Department of Environment and Natural resources.
MNHS was lucky to have that rare seedlings because that tree was considered endangered because Lawaan is one of the best material to make plywood. It was agreed that the fourth year students would plant the tree and they would not graduate if that Lawaan tree would die.
The turn-over was part of the program of the DENR to promote caring of the environment through keeping rare trees alive.
The Lawaan seedlings were received by Mr. Melecio Belacho and Mr. Gil T. Lasmarias. They thanked the DENR for giving the school such a great opportunity to plant a rare tree like Lawaan.
