Davao Oriental governor initiates tree planting

The local government of Davao Oriental headed by our Gov. Corazon Nuñez Malanyaon structured a program called Million Tree Movement which was done simultaneosly on June 22, 2009 at exactly 6:30 a.m..

This movement was participated by the LGU's, senior citizens, purok leaders, students, and teachers al over Davao Oriental.

This movement aimed a gree environment for Davao Oriental and promoted a great concern to our mother nature.

All the participants in the said activity were obliged to go to their respective areas at exactly 6:30 in the morning. Barangay San Ignacio had actively participated in the Million Tree Movement and the Barangay officials also prepared the holes for the seedlings days before the activity.

The people of San Ignacio who joined the tree planting agreed to wear white t-shirts so that the monitoring team of local government will immediately recognize the participants in action.

The Ronquillo Dayanghirang Elementary School started planting from the roadside of Purok Magabong and the senior citizens, purok leaders and barangay officials were assigned to plant at the end of the area of the RDES up to Quinonoan. The Manay National High School also started planting from the roadside near the cemetery up to the Rising Sun.

Many had enjoyed the planting of the trees but there were still some areas which lacked seedlings but the DENR immediately made an action regarding the problem. It was 8:30 a. m. when the participating students of MNHS went back to the school after the monitoring team riding a helicopter passed by the San Ignacio.
