Holy Cross celebrates Araw ng Barangay

A three-night affair was done in celebration for the Araw ng Holy Cross 2009 on October 13-15 at the barangay gym with the theme: "Panagdait, Panaghiusa, Pagtinabangay ug Paghigugmaay alang sa Kalambuan sa Barangay"(Peace, Unity, Cooperation and Love for the Progress of the Barangay).

The first night of the celebration, the barangay hosted its first Pop Dance Competition open for any group of dancers. There were three groups of dancers who showed different amusing moves and tricks. The dancers were judged according to their costumes, dance steps, music and performance by Mr. Welvin S. Del Monte. After the judgment the Jam United was proclaimed as the first placer with the price amounting P2000, the Hyper Strike as the second placer with P1000 and the Ice Breaker as the third placer with P700. The dancers amazed the audience as they performed a showdown.

The second night was the Sectoral Night. Different sectors of the barangay participated to the event and showed variety of talents and presentation to the crowd.

The third night was the highlight of the celebration -- the Search for Miss Holy Cross 2009. There were eight candidates who contested for the search. The candidates who ramped at the stage were judged according to how they carried their attires.

They also showed different talents and the top three candidates were chosen to answer the questions of the host for the question and answer portion.

Then, the awarding of trophies to the ranked candidates. Angel Claire Marie Basa, a student of Manay National High School, representing the GKK Sector grabs almost of the awards and was crowned as the Miss Holy Cross 2009. She was also proclaimed as the Ambassadress of Goodwill by Hon. Mayor Antero Dayanghirang Jr.

Miss Charlene Simbanagan, representing the Womens Sector was declared as the first runner up and Miss Joy Fee Ponte Vedra, representing the Barangay Council was declared as the second runner up.

The consecutive affair was successfully done through the initiative of the different sectors of the barangay. That was a job well done.
